Is LG working on a Windows Phone 8.1 powered smartphone?

LG is set to join the Windows crusade later this year with an array of devices including smartphones, PCs and TVs. The information got leaked via Microsoft Program Manager, who involuntarily shared details about LG’s Windows ingenuities in a LinkedIn post. Earlier, @evleaks tweeted about a Windows Phone 8.1-based smartphone the company is currently working on, the LG Uni8 which is expected to drop sometime this year. As of now, not much is known about the device in terms of hardware and specifications. The device does look sleek but appears to lack physical hardware keys up front and is also lacking a dedicated camera button, similar to that of Nokia Lumia 630.

LG is also working on Windows based PCs and TVs running Windows Threshold. ‘Threshold’ is the codename for the next update/release of Windows. The new operating system is expected to bridge the gap between Windows Phone and Windows platforms.
The latest update knocks months after Microsoft announced its new list of hardware partners that included LG too. Microsoft has been making serious efforts to push its Windows operating system. According to reports, US, India and Brazil are top markets for Windows Phone. Interestingly, India (7.5 percent) ranks second to the US (11 percent), and stands ahead of Brazil (6.9 percent) in terms of marketshare for Windows Phone.
